WASHINGTON – The Hispanic National Bar Foundation (HNBF) is proud to announce that three leaders in the American Hispanic legal community have joined its Board of Directors. Raul Cosio, J. Alberto Gonzalez-Pita, and Jose Fernandez join the other members of the HNBF Board of Directors in their mission to increase diversity in the legal profession through education.

J. Raul Cosio is a Partner at Holland & Knight’s Miami office and is a member of the Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation and International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Groups. In addition to his long-standing and noteworthy career at Holland & Knight as a litigator, Mr. Cosio is a member of various minority bar associations, including The Cuban American Bar Association, where he successfully served and led the organization as President.

J. Alberto (“Al”) Gonzalez-Pita has more than 40 years of experience as a practicing attorney. He is the past General Counsel of HCP, Inc., Las Vegas Sands, Corp., and Tyson Foods, Inc, among others. Gonzalez-Pita served on various Associations including the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), an organization that comprises more than 40,000 in-house attorneys in the United States and 75 other countries.

Jose Fernandez is Assistant General Counsel of Carnival Corporation & plc. Prior to joining Carnival Corporation, Fernandez worked at the law firm of Holland & Knight. Fernandez is involved in various philanthropic organizations, including the Carnival Foundation and Best Buddies.

The addition of these three Hispanic legal practitioners comes as the organization prepares to celebrate its 2017 Annual Awards Dinner on July 20, 2017 at the Ritz Carlton, Washington, DC at 6 p.m. This is the HNBF’s largest fundraising event of the year and makes its educational programs possible. The evening’s special guests are 32 Latino high school students from 12 states who have overcome the odds and met exceptional academic standards and now aspire to pursue a career in the legal field. These young men and women comprise the Future Latino Leaders Law Campers, Class of 2017 and will join the HNBF, its Board of Directors, sponsors, and special guests to celebrate the accomplishments of Monica M. Marquez, Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, Carlos M. Hernandez, General Counsel of Fluor Corporation, and Kevin R. Johnson, Dean of the University of California, Davis, School of Law.
