Justin Carlson

Justin Carlson is an Associate Counsel at Western Union, where he provides legal support for Western Union’s business in the Caribbean.  His practice focuses on financial regulation and licensing, anti-money laundering, negotiating and drafting agreements, data privacy, consumer protection, and representing the company before Central Banks and other regulators.

Prior to joining Western Union, Justin was a research associate for the Public International Law and Policy Group.  His work included projects facilitating the implementation of a new constitution in Nepal, protection of minority rights in Kosovo, and the shared utilization of transboundary freshwater resources.  Justin also previously worked for Morgan & Finnegan LLP, an intellectual property law firm in New York City.

Justin earned his J.D. from American University in Washington DC, where he was an editor for the International Law Review.  He also received a Master’s degree in International Affairs from AU’s School of International Service.  Justin graduated in 2006 from Tufts University in Boston, earning a bachelor’s degree in international relations and biotechnology engineering.  He also spent semesters abroad at universities in Spain, Chile and South Africa.

Justin is an alumnus of the HNBF’s Law Fellows program, through which he was placed with Chevron.  He currently serves as chair of the HNBF’s law camp committee.
