2018 Summer Law Institute Report
Mentorship from great leaders
Walmart is HNBF’s top supporter.
In addition to their financial commitment, which helps make HNBF’s programs possible, an average of five members from their legal team attend and participate in HNBF’s Future Latino Leaders Law Institute each year. The attorneys provide mentorship through numerous programs and events throughout the week. The Walmart Legal Team’s presence is always one of the highlights of the program, bringing their expertise and energy in service of promoting HNBF’s mission.
General Motors is also a long-standing supporter of HNBF and its mission.
Valerie Marsh, Senior Counsel for General Motors, led a public policy panel for the students alongside Arturo Caraballo from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer. Together with other members of their respective teams, the students learned about the many different facets of professionals working within public policy.
A unique and enriching experience
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the 2018 Future Latino Leaders Law Institute was able to welcome students from 14+ states across the country to our nation’s capital. In addition to visiting many of Washington DC’s great sites, participants were able to network with and learn from many of the nation’s most prominent Latino attorneys, judges, law professors, and political figures. The experience culminated with the participants’ Mock Trial at the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
