20 Years

of the Future Latino Leaders Law Camp!

In 2005, the Future Latino Leaders Law Camp began out of the desire of the HNBF to ensure that Hispanic youth had access to the information and resources needed to equip them to embark on legal careers. The first Summer Law Camp had only 18 students. As the years passed and word spread, our number of participants grew, and almost 600 high school students have participated to date.

Over the past 20 years, our students have had the opportunity to visit the Supreme Court, Department of Justice, Department of State, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Labor and other government agencies. Whether onsite at these locations or at our sponsors’ offices, the students have met with members of Congress, cabinet officials, government attorneys, partners at top law firms and accomplished in-house counsel.

The Annual Awards Dinner was established shortly after to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of Hispanics in the legal profession. This event has also given us the opportunity to recognize the generous organizations who over the years have believed in and supported our mission through grants and sponsorships. Incorporating the dinner as part of the camp’s schedule allows sponsors to interact with the students that their giving supports.
