Ms. Prego is currently Secretary of the Hispanic National Bar Foundation and has previously served as President from 2009 – 2014. She also served as the HNBF’s Treasurer from 2006-2008.

Ms. Prego is an experienced M&A and commercial transactions lawyer. She was a senior lawyer at Chevron from 2007-2025 handling complex international negotiations and transactions as well as high-profile litigation, arbitration, and compliance matters. From 2010-2020,Ms. Prego served as general counsel for Sasol Chevron Holdings Limited (an international joint venture between Chevron and Sasol).

Before Chevron, Ms. Prego was a senior attorney with Hughes Hubbard and Reed LLP practicing in both New York and Miami where she managed complex civil and criminal litigation as well as international litigation and arbitration, and class actions.  She is an experienced trial lawyer having handled numerous trials in federal and state courts. She has also directed internal and government investigations and developed company compliance programs. Earlier career, Ms. Prego was at McDermott Will & Emery (Miami), Homer & Bonner (a Miami based litigation boutique), and Anderson Kill (New York).

Ms. Prego earned her J.D. in 1992 at the University of Michigan Law School where she was an editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Ms. Prego is a 1988 graduate of Yale University where she earned a B.A. in History.  Ms. Prego has completed executive leadership and negotiations training at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC, and the London School of Economics.

Ms. Prego is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and Texas. She is a Member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Prego is fluent in Spanish, and has intermediate skills in French, Italian, and Portuguese.
