WASHINGTON (April 11, 2016) The Hispanic National Bar Foundation (HNBF), a national organization established to promote equality through education, today announced the appointment of Denise Moreno, co-founder of Togetherforfamilies.org, as the new executive director for HNBF, effective May 16, 2016. Morenos appointment comes at the end of a national, monthslong search guided by the HNBFs board of directors.
“Denises strong leadership and communications skills, in addition to her background in community and youth outreach, will be a valuable asset to the HNBF,” said Richard C. Lorenzo, president of the HNBF board of directors and partner at Hogan Lovells. The board is looking forward to working closely with Denise and seeing the continued growth and expansion of HNBFs programs.
HNBF provides career preparation, leadership development, networking opportunities, and skills trainings for high school, college, and law students interested in the legal profession. The foundation supports three main educational programs Future Latino Leaders Law Camp, HNBF Law Fellows Program, and HNBF Law Day Events. In 2015, the organization received national recognition as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. The online directory highlights programs, models and initiatives that support Latino educational attainment and help close achievement gaps.
I am honored to have been selected as executive director of HNBF, an organization whose primary goal is to inspire Latino kids, through the Future Latino Leaders Law Camp, to become leaders and legal professionals, stated Moreno. I am thrilled about the opportunity to further enhance our efforts to advocate for diversity in the legal profession through the continued development and promotion of critical pipeline initiatives,” explained Moreno.
Moreno obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross and her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law. She is an active member of the Florida Bar, practicing in the areas of real estate, probate and trust law.
