Jorge leverages his expertise in nonprofit tax and charity law to advise Builders Initiative’s philanthropic efforts. His responsibilities involve a wide range of legal and strategic advisement, from ensuring compliance with laws and regulations governing private foundations to crafting governance and compliance policies that promote effective philanthropy.
Previously, Jorge served as Senior Associate General Counsel at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, where he provided legal counsel and operational support to the MacArthur Foundation’s staff, management, and Board of Directors, assisting with a variety of legal, grants management, and corporate governance matters. Before joining MacArthur, he was an Associate at Adler & Colvin, a San Francisco-based law firm that specializes in representing tax-exempt organizations and philanthropists.
Jorge is a graduate of Chapman University and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He also earned an LL.M. in Taxation, with highest honors, from Georgetown University Law Center. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, exploring the outdoors, and rooting for his favorite Los Angeles sports teams.
